Story:

A good tale told weakly, the story is about Suri Babu (nani) in Bheemili who is passionate about Kabaddi but then he doesn’t get the due chance. He plays with his friends and they are the Bheemili team but they never score a single victory. His life takes a turn when he sees a girl (saranya) who comes from Rajahmundry and though they don’t express it, both fall in love with each other. Meanwhile, the Bheemili team gets a chance to prove everyone wrong when a championship happens in Rajahmundry. Luckily, with the help of coach Prakash (kishore), they manage to get an entry. Whether they win the tournament? What is that shocking twist in the end? All this forms the rest of the story.

Artist performances:

Nani looks apt for the role and though he didn’t show the energy levels like his earlier films, he did a good job. Saranya Mohan was sweet as usual and her eyes, smiles take care of everything. Kishore had a powerful role but was not etched properly. Keerthi was cute. Dhanraj was decent, Santosh was standard, Vinay was okay, Kautilya was regular, the new faces who did the support roles were effective and contributed usefully to the film with their acts.

Plus points:

    * cinematography

    * background score

    * performances

    * climax

Minus points:

    * slow pace

    * repetitive romance scenes

    * no depth in characters

    * weak direction

    * emotion missing in critical scenes

    * wafer thin plot

    * abrupt editing

Analysis:

The film is a remake of the Tamil hit movie 'Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu' and as expected, it is more of a content driven movie than glamour and visual appeal. In such situations, deft handling of script is required and the right flavor of emotion should be extracted. That was missing in the film and this led to a loss in the momentum. To be honest, the story doesn't begin until second half and it is only the last five minutes that brings a shock of sorts. The film might run at the B and C centers for starters but gaining success will take efforts from the makers.

Verdict: Just average, could have been better
